Common Prescribed Infusions

  • IV iron is prescribed when your body needs more iron than can be replaced with diet or oral supplements, often in cases of iron-deficiency anemia.

  • Depending on the product and dose, infusions can take 30 minutes to 2 hours, plus a monitoring period afterwards.

  • You may feel coolness at the IV site or mild changes in taste. Most clients relax comfortably during treatment.

  • Some people experience mild headache, nausea, or temporary flushing. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur, so you will be closely monitored.

  • Some clients feel more energy within days, but full effects may take 1–4 weeks as your body builds up iron stores.

  • This depends on your iron levels and provider’s recommendation. Some clients need a series of treatments, while others only require one.

  • Yes, unless otherwise instructed by your provider. Most clients feel well enough to resume normal activities after monitoring.
